Problem

I would like to install a new expansion pack but I get this error message: “Warning: The Sims 3 game you have is more recent than this product. If you choose to proceed you will need to be connected to the Internet and update this product via the Sims 3 Game Launcher after it is installed in order to play The Sims 3”

Cause

This message appears if your base game is already patched to a higher level than the expansion pack you’re installing needs.

Ex: The  Base game needs to be patched to 1.22 if you want to install Generations. If your base game is now already patched to say 1.42, you will get this message.

You only get this message for newer expansion packs

Solution

Click ok on the message and install your game.

The error message is just telling you that there might be a newer patch than the one you have and that you need an Internet Connection to check this.

You’ll find the current patch version in this post: Bugs & Patches. Just check what the highest patch number is.
