    Precautions for University Life

Introduction After a week of doing the Bug Thread at the official Sims 3 forum, I have to say that UL has some major bugs that make the game unplayable for many. I did fear this could happen, since EA did recycle their fault WA code. There are more reasons for the problems many are facing but a few were identified by now What precautions should you take ? Especially if you have a savegame that you have been playing forever, you should make a backup before installing UL or at least before you go to university for the first…

    In Preparation for University Life

University Life is almost upon us, so time for me to make this post. I do recommend to backup all your stuff, most importantly the DCCache folder and the Saves folder. Most of the things stated here: What to do before patching do still apply. Installing the EP will reset all your Sims so for example not being in a vacation town at the time, reduces the changes of game corruption. If you want to be on the safe side, also remove your mods/custom content. Start a new game after the installation. Get a feeling for what’s new. If you want to continue…

    Seasons Download and Registration Issues

Issue As of today, Seasons is available and EA has major issues. It seems that they have Server Crashing issues and because of this, all registered games have disappeared from our MyPage again. There’s nothing you need to do about it. EA is working on it. Registration If you bought the download version through Origin and your accounts are connected, there’s no need to register the game. It should be automatically added to your thesims.com account (but since that does not work correctly, it won’t show on your myPage. Try redeeming your limited edition codes anyways to see if it…

    In Preparation for Seasons

Seasons is almost upon us, so time for me to make this post. Since we got the patch very early this time, there is no need to go through the whole mod ordeal again unless EA gives us another patch which is unclear at this point. I do recommend to backup all your stuff, most importantly the DCCache folder and the Saves folder. Most of the things stated here: What to do before patching do still apply. Installing the EP will reset all your Sims so for example not being in a vacation town at the time, reduces the changes of game corruption.…

The Sims 3 and Windows 8

Update 2012-11-11 There seems to be a conflict with BitDefender. So if you have problems with the game and BitDefender, uninstall it to see if the game then runs Go to Settings – Antivirus – Active Virus Control and turn it off.  Update 2012-11-08 To try this out, I’ve installed Windows 8 Pro 32 bit version on my old work PC, also installed the base game with nothing added. It works great so far. Have not played throughly but I could not find any new issues The 64 bit version seems to cause more issues for users. When you click…

    In Preperation for Supernatural

Supernatural is out now. Since we got the patch early there is no need to do the whole Mods thing again. Updated for patch 1.38 means updated for the EP.  Backing up your stuff is always a good idea though! The Patch As every Expansion pack, supernatural will come with a patch (why oh why did I not check the game version at the Gamescom ?). The Patch 1.38 is already available for download. Which changes are coming with the patch, is not clear yet but my assumptions are: Population Control Collection Journal More Ingame Store Ads New items in BuyDebug…

    EA’s New Help Center

EA has opened a new Help Center. ATM it’s still Beta and you can submit your ideas for making it better as well. It’s English only  but for all EA games, including Sims 2. Every game has it’s own section. Answer HQ To join, you simply log on with your OriginID. I’m still unsure if they want to get rid of their old forum or at least the tech section or what their main goal is but time will tell. It has some pretty neat features like earning XPs by answering posts. You can also let EA know if a…

    New Feature – Featured Sets

What’s it about Patch 1.36 brings us a new Store-Set Feature. What looks like more ingame store advertisement at first glance is actually a nifty new feature – a collection folder for your Store Sets. Ingame Store enabled If you play your game with the Ingame Store enabled, the new feature hast two purposes Advertisement for Store Sets which you can buy directly in game. According to EA they will have sets on sale here that are not on sale on the page. Store Sets you own as collections (see below) Ingame Store disabled If you play with the Ingame…

    Exchange – All files corrupt

08.02.2014 The current status is that many items get corrupted if yo use save as to download. They can’t be installed in the game and Custard shows them as corrupt. Items are ok if you use add to game instead. The items are not added automatically to your game anymore unless you have the game running or if you are installing something else while downloading. Maintenance seems to have corrupted all (or most) files in the Exchange. Don’t use it for the moment. Old and new files are affected. DO NOT DELETE YOUR STUFF! EA Should be able to fix…
